FAQs

Q: Can I be seen in my private home?
A: Presently, we only see medically home-bound patients residing in Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities in addition to Licensed Adult Family Homes.

Q: Can I continue to see my current primary care physician?
A: We recommend that if you are happy with your current provider to continue to see them and maybe the Home Doctor will be a better option later down the road. It is in the best interest of the patient to only have one provider servicing primary care.

Q: Can I continue to see my current specialists?
A: Yes, the Home Doctor will work with your current specialists.

Q: How long does the enrollment process take?
A: On average, about 2 weeks. It really just depends how long it takes to get all the information we need.

Q: How do I schedule an appointment with the Adult Family Home Doctor?
A: Once the enrollment is complete, the provider that services your home/facility will contact that home to schedule an appointment.

Q: What do I do if I have an emergency? 
A: The Home Doctor is not an emergency service. In the case of an emergency, please contact 911 or go to the closest emergency room.

Q: Are there any additional fees for using the Home Doctor? 
A: Normal co-payments and co-insurance applies, otherwise, there are no additional fees for using the Home Doctor service.

Q: Is there a On-Call Provider for after hour questions?
A: We do have an on-call provider 24/7. All of our Home Doctor providers rotate weekly, so the the on-call provider may not be the provider assigned to your home. Each Home Doctor provider has access to all Home Doctor patients, so they will be able to accurately assess each patient. To reach the on-call provider, please call 253-589-6484 #6.

Q: Do I have to change my Pharmacy?
A: No, we work with all pharmacies.

Q: Will I always have the same community doctor?
A: Usually one Home Doctor provider is assigned to a home. This is based on geographic location. In some circumstances, we will need to change providers due to insurance changes, the provider moving, or if requested by the home. Otherwise, the Home Doctor provider will be the same for each visit.

Q: What hospital does the home doctor work with?
A: The Home Doctor works with all the hospitals.

Q: Does the Home Doctor follow patients during hospital visits/stays?
A: We have agreements with all hospitals to have the inpatient team follow our patients. The inpatient team is better equipped to handle emergency and inpatient needs. We will work with the inpatient team to provide any follow-up appointments needed after the hospital stay.

Q: If I relocate to another care home, will The Home Doctor follow me?
A: It depends, call first and see if The Home Doctor services the new location.

Q: If I am currently on hospice or anticipate being on hospice in the next 90 days, can I enroll with the Home Doctor?
A: No. It is appropiate to stay with your current provider to insure continuity of care.
